Pic of the Week: Seed pods

A plant in my backyard. With flowers. Then seed pods. Then seeds falling out of seed pods. And the process starts all over again. Despacito. Slowly.  Thank you nature, for helping us to understand that, if we just pause to look, we will see the slow process of reinvention is always at work around us. And we aren’t crazy to want reinvention. Because…flowers.

What I’m Reading: Meister Eckhart

After two years away from my all-consuming former profession, one Wednesday night this summer I suddenly knew what I wanted to do: a blog about reinventing. For two years that meant I refused to jump into a job or podcast or blog or website. For two years I waited, and that’s another story for another time. Last week at the Global Leadership Summit, I heard author and speaker Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre/Leadership Academy in Nigeria speak about how leaders help others become their best selves, vs. just growing whatever org they serve. Hey, grow people too! Here’s a pic of one of his slides. When I saw the “r,” I had to snag it. Yes, reinventing probably is less about taking action simply because of the wrench that’s been thrown in our plans. It’s…

What I’m Reading: Option B

Option B by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant After the sudden death of her husband, Sheryl Sandberg felt certain that she and her children would never feel pure joy again. Her friend Adam Grant, a psychologist at Wharton, told her there are concrete steps people can take to recover and rebound. Option B combines Sheryl’s personal insights with Adam’s eye-opening research on finding strength in the face of adversity. It explores the stories of a broad range of people who…
